WOW! Fifteen years after Gianni Versace’s death we get to witness the designers last menswear fashion presentation. Up till now I have only seen pictures of this occasion, but now we can see the video which recall’s the menswear collection for Spring/Summer 1998.
Presented on June 25,1997 in Florence, Italy, the show was a collaboration with the icon choreographer and friend Maurice Bejart. Gianni Versace and Mr. Bejart (who has since passed away in 2007) worked on the choreography and surreal presentation inspired by dance, drama, the male form, and the one and only Naomi Campbell. The show strangely enough ends with a gun going off, seemingly foreshadowing Gianni’s demise on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion on July 15. The unique runway with an Egyptian obelisk in the center offers a glimpse of the genius of the house of Versace in fashion, art, and dance. Thanks to FashionChannel we can enjoy this moment on youtube.
